MLK Day of Service 2012
A Project of the Heart of Texas Urban Gardening Coalition
We had over 1,000 volunteers at 15 garden sites around town. Thank you so much to everyone who came out and who partnered to make this event a reality, including CIS-Americorps, Community Health Corps, World Hunger Relief Farm, and Baylor Campus Kitchens. Lets keep the ethic of service alive for the coming year! Look below for a full garden report.
To promote Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision of building broad and diverse community coalitions, the Heart of Texas Urban Gardening Coalition (UGC) coordinated gardening projects throughout the city of Waco as part of the MLK Day of Service on January 16, 2012 from 12:00pm-3:00pm. As Doctor King said, “everyone can be great, because everyone can serve.”
