This year will be our 4th Annual Harvest Celebration, honoring the many students and youth who have participated at school and church gardens partnering with the HOT Urban Gardening Coalition. As well as honoring garden club students, the Urban Gardening Coalition is working with the McLennan County Hunger Coalition to promote the Spring Onto Summer Food Drive and raise awareness of the benefits of working with youth in the garden. The Harvest Celebration will be held at the Baylor Campus Garden on April 20th (as part of Global Youth Service Day) from 3:00–6:00pm.

  • When:  Friday, April 20th.  3:00pm-6:00pm
  • Where:  Baylor Campus Garden at the Corner of 9th and James Streets
  • What:  Garden Activities for the kids, Grilling and Snacks fresh from the Garden, and a Special Recognition Ceremony for all of our Garden Club Students!
  • Who:  Students from Brazos Middle, Brook Avenue Elementary, JH Hines Elementary, Sul Ross Elementary, Tennyson Middle School, and West Avenue Elementary
  • Partners and Activities:  Heart of Texas Council of Governments Environmental Department is setting up their Water Shed EnviroScape!  Heart of Texas Master Composters are bringing worms for vermicomposting demonstrations!  Baylor Campus Kitchens will be grilling for us!  Urban Gardening Coalition will be potting up lovely plants and flowers to give away to the kiddos!

    I am wondering if the greens will be edible at that date. I was planning harvest of those in early May max.

    I harvest greens of all types February to June. You should have plenty by now.
